Biofeedback: An Effective Add-on Treatment for Migraine Headache Alongside Medication Therapy

Background & Objective:  Migraine is an occasional headache that represents neurological and gastrointestinal symptoms, as well changes in the autonomic nervous system. Biofeedback a non-pharmacological technique used to treat migraine headaches proven reduce improve performance. The present study aimed compare efficacy of biofeedback pharmacological treatments find best treatment strategy for headaches.   Materials Methods:  This randomized clinical trial was performed on 86 patients who referred Noor Psychiatric Clinic Neurology Clinic of Valiasr Hospital, Zanjan, Iran. Patients were divided into two groups daily with medication medicine biofeedback. Cases monitored every months using interviews questionnaires. Results:  The carried out age range 31-45 years 3 months. Most female, including 90.7 individuals case group 81.4 control group. frequency distribution use not different between (P=0.744). participants had history more than 1 year headache. During treatment, severity attacks reduced obviously until 8th week. decrease Migraine Disability Assessment (MIDAS) score significant group, except 10th 12th weeks. However, decline MIDAS significant. Moreover, reduction remained end study.  Conclusion:  It can be concluded combination therapy provides rapid response alone. Therefore, effective add-on therapy, which taken consideration diminishing all aspects attacks.
